A Sony may be working on a new generation of DualSense controllers for the PlayStation 5. Sources heard by journalist Tom Henderson, who recently published rumors about a new Hideo Kojima horror gamestated that the most premium model of the accessory should be announced in the coming weeks.
The second generation of DualSense would go by the codename “Hunt”. Among the features, the control would have removable analog sticks and rear buttons. According to Henderson, the sources’ claims were accompanied by photos of the prototype, which were sent on the condition that the images not be published.
With the removable analog sticks, the player will only be able to change the directional pad in case of component failures, such as drift or lack of movement recognition.
The triggers can also be rethought, with the incorporation of the so-called “trigger stops”, or “paradas de trigger” in literal translation into Portuguese. The part is a common modification for controllers and FPS players, made to reduce trigger lag by removing required travel distance beyond the usual trigger point. In terms of design, the “DualSense Pro” can also have a removable grip, ensuring more grip options for the player.
The sources did not pin a date for the reveal of the control, simply pointing out that the announcement should take place soon. Recently, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier indicated that Sony is preparing an event to reveal the release date of God of War Ragnarök.
