After the launch of Horizon Zero Dawn on the PC, we learn that this was just the beginning and Sony plans to expand its coverage of the PC platform. PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan announced in an interview with GQ magazine that another title that will target the PC platform will be an open world action adventure Days Gone, the release of which is already planned for spring of this year.
From the interview:
Releasing PlayStation titles on a PC was something Sony PlayStation has long avoided. But now it seems that you plan to continue. What has changed?
I think a few things have changed. Now, in early 2021, we are in better shape than ever with our development studies and games. Especially in the second half of the PS4 cycle, our studios created some amazing and great games. There is an opportunity to offer these great games to a wider audience and to reflect on the economics of game development, which is not always straightforward. Game production costs increase with each cycle as IP quality has improved. It is also now easier to release the game outside the console. So it’s a pretty clear decision for us.
This follows on from the release Horizon Zero Dawn on PC in August last year. How satisfied were you with him?
We evaluated the release of HZD in two ways. First, in terms of the direct success of the game’s publishing business, PC gamers liked it and bought it. We also looked at it from the perspective of what the PlayStation community thought. There was no severe adverse reaction. We will therefore continue in this direction.
