Sony is developing a virtual world for ‘Manchester City’

Sony has announced it is developing “amazing” virtual worlds for “PlayStation” games, which will be among the largest worlds in the Metaverse, according to Al-Hurra TV.

According to a report published by “The Verge”, the company presented a quick experience of the virtual world of “Manchester City” via Metaverse during the “CAS 2023” conference.

The quick experience of the world of ‘Manchester City’ is just a prototype or ‘proof of concept’ of what Sony is working on, as it will allow fans to participate in the activities of its virtual version of the Etihad Stadium, using their own avatars .

Sony product manager Nami Iwamoto said the virtual world will have unique interactions, allowing users to communicate in a new way.

The virtual world offered by Sony allows you to show the stadium and the characters from more than one perspective, whether they are players, goalkeepers or fans.

And Sony showed another clip showing tracking players using “seven sensors” to digitally recreate them in metaphysical space, according to the report.

The partnership was first announced between Sony and Manchester City, in November 2021, while the report indicated that after more than a year the announcement was unclear whether it would be available for use and whether it was considered the best way to communicate with fans.

The Verge report cited a press release from Sony saying users will be able to create avatars on their phones, while a company spokesperson, Yu Kikuchi, confirmed in a message to the site that the virtual world of Manchester City will be launched in 2023.
