This month Sony released the PS5 Pro. If you are wondering whether certain games have been optimized for the new console, you should not rely exclusively on the Enhanced label in the PlayStation Store.
With the PS5 Pro A more powerful version of the previous one was released this month PS5-models. Just in time for the launch of the new console, numerous titles have been optimized for the PS5 Pro.
The optimizations offered include improved graphics, higher resolutions, more stable frame rates or improved ray tracing effects. In order to make it clear to users when purchasing a new game whether a title has been optimized for the PS5 Pro, Sony uses the same method as with the PS4 Pro on an enhanced label.
This should tell players at first glance whether a title has been optimized for the PS5 Pro or not. At least that’s the theory. In practice, Sony sometimes provides the PS5 Pro Enhanced label for confusion.
Some titles are incorrectly listed as PS5 Pro Enhanced
As players noted, Sony lists in the PlayStation Store Titles that have not yet received a PS5 Pro update have the Enhanced label. And here we’re not even dealing with small indie games. Quite the opposite. For example, among the incorrectly listed titles is: „Fortnite“.
The long-running Battle Royale from Epic Games has been one of the most successful and most played titles on PlayStation systems for years.
The second big name that causes confusion in this context is „Call of Duty: Black Ops 6“. The shooter appeared in a list of enhanced titles shortly before the launch of the PS5 Pro and was given the corresponding label by Sony in the PlayStation Store. The announcement of a PS5 Pro optimization for “Black Ops 6” is still a long time coming.
Also the start of the first season did not bring a PS5 Pro update. Epic Games is also still keeping a low profile regarding a PS5 Pro update for “Fortnite”.
Sony has not yet corrected the error
In the last few days, numerous players on platforms such as X (formerly Twitter) or Reddit have pointed out the games that were incorrectly listed as PS5 Pro optimized. However, the feedback did not lead to any improvement.
Instead, both “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” and “Fortnite” will continue to be listed under PS5 Pro Enhanced titles on the PlayStation Store.
In the official listing The two titles also appear on the official PlayStation Blog. It is currently unclear whether “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” and “Fortnite” are the only titles where Sony made this mistake.
Either way. For now, you probably shouldn’t blindly rely on the PS5 Pro Enhanced label in the PlayStation Store when buying a game.
The PS5 Pro was released on November 7, 2024 and is available in Europe at a price of 799.99 euros.
