This investment that Sony Group Corporation has made is a sign of good relations between the two companies. In addition, they also have a mission to advance socially connected technology, entertainment and online services.
This is not the first time Sony has provided a cash injection for Epic Games. Previously, in July 2020, Sony Group Corporation invested USD 250 million or around IDR 3.6 trillion in the same company. This is done by Sony to acquire a minority stake in the company.

Tim Sweeney as CEO and founder of Epic Games expressed his gratitude to investors.
“We are very grateful to our new and existing investors who are very supportive of our vision for Epic.
“Their investment has contributed greatly to accelerating our performance in building connected social aspects through Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys while helping developers and creators develop and distribute their games using the Unreal Engine, Epic Online Services, and the Epic Games Store.”
