Sony Honda Mobility, a joint venture formed by the two companies to manufacture electric cars, presented the Afeela sedan in January 2023 and, just over a year after the avant-première, revealed its next steps.
After the arrival of the inaugural model on the market, scheduled for 2025 or early 2026 in the United States, the joint venture will launch an SUV in 2027 and, the following year, a more affordable entry-level model.
The information was published by friends at Nikkei Asia on their account on X, formerly Twitter, last Wednesday (14). According to the website, the launches will serve to put Sony Honda Mobility in the fight for a place in the global electric car market.
What will the new electric cars be like?
There are, for now, no details on what the joint venture’s two new electric cars will be like, but speculation indicates that the entry-level model could inherit components from the extinct partnership between Honda and GM, while the SUV would be built on top of the Vision- concept. S 02.

The idea is to use Honda’s facilities in Ohio, in the United States, to get both projects off the ground and, ultimately, put the partnership with Sony in a prominent place in the global electric market.
