Sony has announced two brand new Walkman devices that run the Android operating system, apparently designed for audiophiles, but still have terrible pricing. Although the Signature Series NW-WM1AM2 shortens the family coffers by only $ 1,600, the NW-WM1ZM2 can be ours at $ 4,200, if we consider the quality to be the highest. and listening to portable music at the same time.
What are these? It is essentially a touch screen smart device developed for listening to and streaming music that produces the best possible quality of music. If you like, these are the MP3 players of today, that is, their future. And why do they cost a fortune?
There is some explanation for this as well. The outer frame of the devices, for example, is made of very special gold-plated, oxygen-free copper, which provides much better grounding, or aluminum in the case of the other model, which insulates external electrical interference, thus improving sound quality in both designs. The digital and analog components are separated on the motherboard, a design that the Japanese manufacturer says reduces interference between components. An additional OFC block provides additional insulation for digital components.
Both new Walkman devices feature a digital amplifier developed specifically for Sony’s high-end devices, which consumes less power than traditional solutions while delivering better sound quality. In addition to the amplifier, Sony also uses the so-called DSEE Ultimate AI algorithm to improve sound quality in real time.
According to the manufacturer, it is capable of upgrading 44.1 kHz 16-bit CD-quality audio to 192 KHz / 32 bits. In addition, the devices are equipped with a 10-band equalizer, so the user can set the sound they want. The players run Android 11 and support Wi-Fi and Bluetooth data connectivity. They also have a dual headphone output and a USB-C connector for data and charging.
There is no doubt that high-end technologies have been included in Sony’s novelties, but it is somewhat questionable whether the goods are worth HUF 500,000 and HUF 1.3 million, respectively. Decide for yourself here are the detailed features!
