To limit the spread of COVID-19, we all have to stay at home as much as possible. So that the ceiling doesn’t fall on our heads in our own four walls, Sony wants to make social distancing easier – with two completely free games for the PlayStation 4.
Stay at home and play
Sony has one Blog post announced the “Play at Home” initiative to take responsibility in these difficult times and to thank those who stay at home. For PS4 owners in Germany and China, this means that they can download the two games Knack 2 and Journey for free from April 16 to May 6. No PS-Plus account is required for this, the games also remain permanently in the library afterwards.
Crack 2
The successor to the PS4 launch title Knack brings the protagonist of the same name back to the screen to help in the fight against the goblins. Knack can change its shape and capabilities with collected materials. The jump-and-run adventure has a family-friendly co-op mode and offline multiplayer.
Note: In other countries, including Austria and Switzerland, instead of Knack 2, the three games from the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection are available for download.
Journey
This artistically designed, completely word-free game has received top marks in tests. The mysterious setting with the figure in scarf and dress and the desert landscape with the remains of an ancient civilization is a wonderful change from the rest of the uniform.
It should be noted that the game downloads can currently take a little longer than usual. This is because the speed has been reduced in Europe and the United States to maintain internet access for everyone.

Sony supports indie developers
Another, equally important part of the “Play at Home” initiative is the establishment of a fund for smaller, independent developer studios that are extremely financially affected by the corona pandemic. A total of $ 10 million will be made available to help developers.
