Sony DualSense Edge PS5 Controller Gets Official Linux Support – Games – News

Sony has updated its PlayStation hidden Linux driver to support the DualSense Edge controller. That controller will be released in January and will have additional buttons, although they don’t yet work with the Linux driver.

The manufacturer published driver update in early October, observes Foronice. Sony says the update will include support for the DualSense Edge controller, but only like the original DualSense controller for PlayStation 5. Additional features offered by the Edge controller, such as the ability to customize buttons, will not yet work with the update.

Phonorix writes that the update could be officially released in December. It is unclear whether Sony wants to enable additional Edge features in the future as well. The hidden PlayStation open source driver also includes support for the PlayStation 4 controller. Sony released in late 2020 an official Linux driver for the first DualSense controller.

Of The DualSense Edge controller is a PlayStation 5 controller which, among other things, has buttons on the back of the controller, has replaceable sticks and can be adjusted via software. For example, on PlayStation 5, users can use the dead zones adjustment of joysticks, buttons folders and the distance travel of triggers. The controller will be released on January 26th and costs 240 euros.
