Sony does not give its A8-oled TV an HDMI 2.1 connection – Image and sound – News

Sony has a few TVs in its range this year that can handle signals via HDMI in 8k and 60fps or 4k and 120fps, but the A8 is not included. This is the 4k-oled TV that Sony is launching this year.

The Japanese manufacturer has informed the FlatpanelsHD website that the XH90, a 4k LCD TV that will be released this year, will have a full HDMI 2.1 connection, in the sense that there is support for 4k and 120fps via HDMI, but also for Fr., allm, and eARC. In addition, the ZH8, an 8k LCD TV that also comes out this year, has an HDMI connection that can handle sixty images per second in an 8k resolution. The only other TV that can do this is the one released last year ZG9, also an 8k LCD TV.

This means that the A8, the OLED TV that Sony is launching this year, does not have an HDMI 2.1 connection. This TV will support eARC, so it is possible to send lossless audio formats such as Dolby TrueHD, DTS: X and Dolby Atmos. Other parts of the hdmi 2.1 standard are not supported by the A8.

Sony presented At the beginning of this month, OLED and LCD TVs are for 2020. The XH90 is described by the company as a mid-class that is compatible with 4k and 120fps, although a future software update is required. In addition to the A8, Sony also comes with the ZH8, an 8k TV that, according to the manufacturer, can scale up images to 8k in real time. The company will also release the A9 this year, a 48 “-oled TV. Whether this A9 should also miss HDMI 2.1 is still unknown.
