Sony Delays Release of PlayStation GranTurismo 7 Game in Russia

TEMPO.CO, JakartaSony Interactive Entertainment has so far stated that it has suspended the launch of Gran Turismo 7 in Russia–which was released globally last Friday, March 4, 2022. Not only that, Sony has also suspended opening the PlayStation Store in a country that has been heavily criticized for the invasion of Ukraine. .

Sony’s move follows a number of other major tech companies that have suspended services in Russia in protest at Moscow’s war policies. Sony Group also announced a donation of US$2 million through the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) and Save the Children.

Another gaming giant, Nintendo Co Ltd, has also suspended shipments of software and hardware to Russia. The reason that Nintendo put forward, “Because of the considerable changes around the logistics of shipping and physically distributing goods.”

Just like Sony, Nintendo also said it would delay the launch of its newest game, ‘Advance Wars 1+2: Re-boot Camp’. The reason for this was, “Recent world events.”

The military-themed game is slated to hit the Nintendo Switch globally on April 8. However, Nintendo’s eShop status in Russia last week reported that it was under repair after the payment provider suspended payments in the currency Ruble.
