Sony confirms PS5 does not support PS1, PS2 and PS3 games

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – After a long wait, gamer in various countries of the world finally know the information when and at what price PS5 (PlayStation 5) launched.

Ready to hit the market on November 12 – in select countries – and November 19 globally, Sony confirms an important feature about this new console.

In August 2020, news broke PS5 will have the ability to play various game titles that have been released for the PS1, PS2, and PS3.

In an interview with Japanese media, Famitsu, Jim Ryan, as the chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment immediately brushed off the news circulating on the internet.

Ryan explained that the PS5 was custom built which meant the R&D team was mostly focused on using high-speed SDD and the new DualSense. That was reported Famitsu, Saturday (19/9/2020).

“This has prevented Sony from bringing the game-playing capabilities that were launched on the company’s older consoles,” Ryan explained.

Although it can’t play games from the company’s three legacy consoles, Sony makes sure PS5 can play about 99 percent of the games on the PS4.
