Sony cancels PAX East presence due to coronavirus – News

Last week, Sony unveiled the list of games with which it intended to go to PAX East. Among them, exclusives, including a playable version of The Last of Us Part II, Dreams, Predator: Hunting Grounds or even Marvel’s Iron Man VR.

Unfortunately, the players present on site will notice the absence of Sony and the PlayStation brand. Indeed, the company has just announced that because of the risks presented by the coronavirus, it preferred to cancel its arrival. The information was released via PlayStation Blog, in a statement in which we can read:

Today, Sony Interactive Entertainment has decided to cancel its participation in this year’s PAX East in Boston due to growing concerns related to COVID-19 (…) We thought it was the safest option because the situation changes daily. We are disappointed to cancel our participation in this event, but the health and safety of our staff is our greatest concern.

A decision to which reacted Naughty Dog, whose play, scheduled for May 29, is highly anticipated;

We are so sad to miss PAX East! We were really looking forward to meeting you and seeing your reactions to the demo. Although we know that this makes the expectation (of The Last of Us Part II) until May 29 a little more difficult, we appreciate your understanding. Don’t worry, we will have more to share before launch.
