Sony Announces Price Increase for PlayStation Plus Subscriptions in September: What You Need to Know

Sony has announced that it will increase the price of PlayStation Plus subscriptions. The prices will go up already in September, and the price of the annual subscription will increase in all three levels offered. From September 6, new prices will apply for the Essential, Extra and Premium tiers. We don’t know the official Czech prices yet, so we can’t even say with certainty how the news will affect us.

New prices

PlayStation Plus Essential for 12 months
$79.99 | 71.99 euros | £59.99 | 6,800 yen

PlayStation Plus Extra for 12 months
$134.99 | 125.99 euros | £99.99 | 11700 yen

PlayStation Plus Premium for 12 months
$159.99 | 151.99 euros | £119.99 | 13900 yen

Original prices

PlayStation Plus Essential for 12 months
$59.99 | 59.99 euros | £49.99

PlayStation Plus Extra for 12 months
$99.99 | 99.99 euros | £83.99

PlayStation Plus Premium for 12 months
$119.99 | 119.99 euros | £99.99

The price difference is up to 40 dollars per year, depending on the chosen degree. The price increase should be global. The price change is to allow Sony, according to its statement, to continue to bring high-quality titles and other benefits to subscribers. The new 12-month pricing will still be more affordable than monthly and quarterly subscriptions.

Existing subscribers will be affected by the increase only after their subscription is renewed, but not before November 6. Any changes to your subscription after September 6, either upgrades or downgrades, will be charged at the new prices. Of course, you can cancel your subscription at any time. Sony will inform existing subscribers about the changes by email and will soon bring more information on the website.

We do not yet know the official Czech prices.
