Jakarta, CNBC IndonesiaSony and Microsoft announced an official agreement regarding the Call of Duty game. Games first-person shooter (FPS) is certain to remain available on the Sony PlayStation for the next 10 years.

The agreement between Sony and Microsoft can put Call of Duty fans who use PlayStation consoles at ease. The reason is, since Microsoft annexed Activision Blizzard, the Call of Duty developer studio, there have been rumors that the game will only be available on Xbox and PC.

“We are pleased to announce that Microsoft and PlayStation have entered into a binding agreement to ensure Call of Duty is available on PlayStation following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard,” Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer said on Twitter.

Since its announcement, Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard has encountered a myriad of problems that have ended in court. Regulators around the world are worried that Microsoft will become increasingly dominant in the game market if it officially becomes the owner of Activision. Apart from Call of Duty, Activision is also the owner of the mobile game Angry Bird.

As a manufacturer of Xbox, which competes directly with Sony’s PlayStation, many suspect that Microsoft will make several game titles exclusive to Xbox.

Sony Interactive CEO, Jim Ryan, even though just last month accused Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision as potentially anti-competitive. On Twitter, Microsoft’s Brad Smith said the company is making sure Call of Duty is available on as many platforms and consumers as possible.

Until now, the certainty about the success or failure of the Activision acquisition is unclear. However, Microsoft got a breath of fresh air after a court ordered the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) not to block the acquisition.

In Europe, Microsoft has been getting the green light since May. Meanwhile, the British regulator said it was ready to discuss with Microsoft about the approval requirements for the Activision acquisition process.
