The compact A7C full-frame mirrorless series received two new cameras
The A7C II continues its predecessor with everything, the A7CR will offer high resolution
You can buy the basic A7CII for 58,000, and you will have to prepare 90,000 for the A7CR
The Japanese company Sony is not only engaged in the production of televisions, game consoles and smartphones, but is also one of the leading companies in the mirrorless segment. In recent years, they have been gaining significantly in popularity and are slowly replacing classic DSLR cameras. Among their main advantages are, for example, smaller dimensions, which is also one of the main attractions of the A7C series in the Sony portfolio. The first generation Sony Alpha A7C was among the smallest full-frame mirrorless cameras on the market, and the pair of A7C II and A7CR models continues this established trend.
The compact A7C received two successors
The successor to the first generation Sony Alpha A7C II boasts a 33Mpx full-frame Exmor R CMOS sensor, which is accompanied by a BionZ XR processor. In addition to top-notch photos, we can also expect it to shoot video in up to 4K at 60 frames per second, or in FullHD at 120 frames. The 10bit 4:2:2 format and the S-Cinetone and S-Log profiles are also supported. The 5-axis image stabilization and 7-step vibration compensation will also please you.

The controls, such as the new mode switch on the top and the rotary selector on the front, have also been slightly modified, and the grip has also undergone a change, which should be more pleasant to hold. The compact dimensions of the magnesium body sealed against dust and moisture are 124 x 71.1 x 58.6 millimeters and the weight of 429 grams fortunately continues in the spirit of its predecessor.
The second addition, labeled Sony Alpha A7CR, refers to the “big” Rka in the Sony camera portfolio by its name, and as in their case, the letter R primarily means higher resolution. The Japanese equipped this model with a 61 Mpx full-frame CMOS Exmor R sensor accompanied by a BionZ XR processor.
Don’t overlook
The new mirrorless camera from Sony surprises with its focusing speed, artificial intelligence and price
Due to the high resolution, APS-C mode is much more usable in the case of the A7CR, which offers a nice 24 Mpx in the cutout. There is also video recording in 4K/60p and FullHD/120p with support for 10-bit 4:2:2, and the dimensions are more or less the same as in the case of the A7C II – only the weight is 1 gram higher.
For professional use, the lack of a second SD card slot can be a problem, but for amateurs or semi-professionals, it is a very interesting alternative to larger cameras (not only) from Sony. Both cameras will be available on the Czech market in the coming weeks both in a completely black color and in a variant with a silver upper part. The price of the A7C II was set in the spirit of the predecessor at 57,990 CZKwhile the A7CR is not afraid to go with the price up to CZK 89,990.
