Sonu Sood Now Offers Free Electric Rickshaws To Help Small Businesses

India’s pandemic hero actor Sonu Sood is up to the task again. After reassuring workers, students returned home safely during the lockdown, and donated for education and businesses of people from poor backgrounds, Sood is now providing free battery-powered rickshaws to help start small businesses.

“A small step today, for a big leap forward tomorrow. By providing free e-rickshaws which can be used to jumpstart small businesses, My effort is to empower people to become self-reliant, ”he wrote in a tweet.

Previously, Sood reportedly mortgaged eight properties in Mumbai, to raise Rs 10 crore and help the needy. According to a Money Control report, Sood, who has been at the forefront of organizing several aid measures since the coronavirus– the induced lockdown, was questioned on the motivations of its humanitarian efforts.

The report stated that Sood had mortgaged his properties located in various locations in Mumbai to raise funds. The properties include two commercial stores and six apartments. Documents accessible through the portal also indicate that the agreement was signed in the first week of September this year and that they were registered in November 2020. The actor reportedly paid a registration fee of Rs 5 lakh to raise funds by mortgaging his property which is located on AB Nayar Road in Mumbai.

His efforts to mobilize in times of crisis and come to the aid of those in need during difficult times have been widely appreciated. One person even gave his store the Bollywood name after helping it reach his village when the country was locked down earlier this year.

The Arts and Humanities Department at Sarat Chandra IAS Academy, Sarat Chandra Degree College and Sarat Chandra Junior College in Andhra Pradesh has been renamed in honor of Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, who appears also in Telugu and other Southern films. The department is now known as the Sonu Sood Arts and Humanities Department.
