“Haj Metwally’s Family” is considered one of the most famous Arab drama series, as it was presented in 34 episodes in 2001, starring the late star Nour El Sharif. The series discussed the problems of polygamy, and the way Eastern men deal with them, in a framework characterized by humor and seriousness. The episodes touched on the way the husband deals with the four wives, who consider themselves lucky in their married life, where all family members live in pride and luxury all the time under the control of the husband and father, “Metwally.”
The series was written, screenplay and dialogue by Mustafa Muharram, directed by Ahmed Al-Naqli, and co-starring alongside Nour El-Sherif were the actresses: Fadia Abdel-Ghani “Zubaida” (the first wife), Magda Zaki “Amina” (the second wife), and Ghada Abdel Razek “Nimatallah” ( The third wife), and Somaya al-Khashab “Madiha” (the fourth wife), and it was one of the first roles in which the artist Mustafa Shaaban appears.
The makers of the new series are betting on the great prestige enjoyed by the late artist Nour El-Sherif, especially since the series will revolve around the idea of the old work, as the script and dialogue were written by the son of the author Mustafa Muharram, the owner of the screenplay of the previous work, as the series will present the story of the sons of “Hajj Metwally.” , who were separated after the death of their father, and each one of them went in a different direction.
