You have to be careful to put people directly in the audiophile box because they bought a soundbar.

I don’t think people are looking for the one set where that trumpet comes out just that little bit better. They are looking for an easy-to-use system that sounds good (average consumer).

Then you come up with the argument “but there are better columns/boxes/AV reveivers for the same or less money”. Yes Nice. But you only hear the differences between those speakers when you literally hear them side by side. Usually at an audio store.

I almost dare to put my hand in the fire that if you do a blind test between systems that you will not get a 100% score which is a soundbar or a bookshelf speaker.

Sonos or other soundbar systems are just fine. They won’t excel at anything, but they’re good enough for music or movies. An average dolby surround set is fantastic for movies, but again jerky for music. And with a few columns and an AV receiver, it’s just the other way around.

What matters is what concessions you want to make. Because there is no single solution that scores 100% on everything.

I picked Sonos because it sounds good, isn’t flashy in my living room and the IR receiver allows you to control everything in terms of multimedia with one remote.

I couldn’t do that with an AV receiver. So even though it still sounded perfect in all situations, it still wasn’t good value for money FOR ME.
