The “new” Sonos speakers fix a simple but important flaw.

Sonos’ outdoor outdoor speakers have been on the market for a few years: But unlike many other Sonos speakers, they’ve only been available in one color: Dazzling White! Thus, they are suitable for white facades and bright conservatories, but not on a dark-stained cottage wall or the like.
Now, however, Sonos has listened to feedback from customers, retailers and installers and can finally deliver its outdoor speakers in black.
The outdoor speakers have been developed in collaboration with Sonance, which specializes in products for installation, custom install and outdoor use. The tough speakers have an IP66 rating, which means they can withstand the elements all year round.
Technically, the speakers are unchanged and are still intended to be powered by an external Sonos Amp to form part of a larger multi-room system.

With a pair of Outdoor speakers, you can then have music in the outdoor room all year round, but it should be mentioned that this will be a relatively expensive solution. For many, a wireless, battery-powered speaker like the Sonos Move (which can also be configured as a stereo pair) is a more flexible and affordable option.
