Sonos CEO Confirms Old S2 App Won’t Return: What This Means for Users

Bad news for Sonos users who were hoping for the return of the speaker brand’s old app. Sonos– CEO Patrick Spence has said that the old S2-app will not be released again.

Releasing oude Sonos S2-app According to Spence, it was seen ‘until recently’ as a solution for users who are still experiencing problems with the new application. But on Reddit answer the Sonos CEO now says that after testing that option, it turned out that releasing the old app would only make the problems worse.

“In the months since the launch of the new mobile app, we have updated the software running on our speakers and in the cloud to the point where the S2 app is no longer more reliable and more durable than before,” Spence said. “After extensive testing, we decided that re-releasing S2 would make the problems worse, not better. I’m sure this is disappointing. I was disappointed.”

Problems with the new Sonos app

Sonos launched its new app in May and it was not well received by users. The new app was missing several commonly used functions. Users have also been complaining for months about the many bugs in the app.

Spence offered a few weeks ago apologized and promised that the company will be completely focused on developing the application in the near future. This leaves two publications new Sonos products canceled.
