After “Hase” Sonja Zietlow was unmasked in the “Masked Singer” final, the show is now going into extra time. Now two TV channels are biting – without any costume and with an open visor.

The Pro7 show “Masked Singer” is over the stage, Tom Beck has won the singing competition, the audience was once again thrilled – everything was fine, you might think.

If it weren’t for the moderator Sonja Zietlowwho had surprisingly melodious things to offer under the rabbit costume. It means trouble in paradise – with two TV channels as the zigzag protagonists.

“The Masked Singer”: TV channel war on Twitter

The choice of weapons is clear: social media, more precisely, Twitter. It all started with the unmasking of Sonja Zietlow. It had just gone over the screen when Pro7 posted Twitter: “RTL is sure to cheer. Colleagues always watch ‘celebrities under palm trees’ on Wednesdays.”

A sweet statement, that RTL didn’t want to leave it like that. The chirping replica of the broadcaster: “Of course we will tune in if you have a working reality format. We have been doing it long enough.” The question remains: What can you do?

Show almost ended up at RTL

There is a background to Zoff. 2019 argued Pro7 and RTL for the rights to “The Masked Singer”. The international show success would of course also have looked good on RTL. In the end, Pro7 was awarded the contract and celebrated a huge success with the mixture of vocal show and costume party.

A development that RTL still seems to be concerned with. The broadcaster spoiled Bastian Yotta as the winner of “Celebs under palm trees“. The reality format runs on Sat.1, but like Pro7 it belongs to the ProSiebenSat.1 media group.

Sonja Zietlow is considered an “RTL” face – and may have surprised some with her appearance. She herself remains calm and comments in an interview with “Bild”: “I generally work for different stations. Of course, I couldn’t now coordinate ‘Masked Singer’ directly with RTL, but that’s not a problem.” After all, it was her job to appear on television: “I am always happy to receive inquiries from all channels. I don’t have an exclusive contract either.”
