Against all odds, father Theo managed to stretch for another year in his life after his treatment team gave him weeks, at most a few months. But that doesn’t make the pain any less for Sonja and her family. The choice that Theo himself would determine when he would end his life by means of euthanasia was fixed.
Sonja told earlier in conversation with the weekly Private still how special her father was. Since the beginning of this year, the health of her father, who was suffering from colon cancer, has clearly gone downhill. “He was able to enjoy his family for a while and this was it.”
