In an interview with ComicBook.com director Jeff Fowler was asked if he was interested in making a Super Smash Bros. movie. Although the director seemed a bit skeptical, he is certainly open to it. “Nothing would make me happier than just throwing all the characters into a battle royale and a big Smash Bros. to make. That would probably take some lawyer work before that could happen.” said Fowler.
SEGA owns the rights to the Sonic franchise, while Nintendo owns the rights to the Super Smash Bros. franchise and owns most of the characters from those games. Despite the obstacles that the rights can bring, Fowler is definitely excited to see Mario and Sonic go head to head. Getting Mario and Sonic in the ring, everyone would love to see that, right? It’s just a classic.”
