From Thionville to Metz, the inhabitants heard a strong explosion this Monday July 3 in the middle of the afternoon. Immediately panic took hold of social networks, some wanting at all costs to make the link between this unusual noise and the urban violence that has shaken the country for days.
The explanation came at the beginning of the evening from the Luxembourg authorities: this famous bang heard during the day actually came from a plane of the French air force which was carrying out maneuvers in the south of the Grand Duchy.
A sonic boom occurs when a fighter jet flies faster than sound. That is 320 meters per second; the equivalent of 1230 kilometers per hour.
