It is a conscious choice to appoint Jan as one of the presenters for the Eurovision Song Contest. His illness was known before his appointment. “We have worked out a plan together, so that we have every confidence that it will work out,” the spokesperson for the song festival explains.

Last fall the singer was treated for a month in a clinic in Spain by a group of Dutch psychotherapists. Now that he is back in the Netherlands, the focus is entirely on his recovery. All appointments have been deleted from the agenda, so that Jan is ready to take on the large presentation job in May. He also takes the necessary measures at home. When it gets too busy for him, he leaves for his temporary apartment in Volendam.
