Song “In Search of Heroes” created for a new television production “Independence Hours” / Article / LSM.lv

The National Guard Orchestra publishes a new work dedicated to the end of the centenary of the War of Independence “In Search of Heroes”, the representatives of the National Guard Orchestra informed.

The music for the song “In Search of Heroes” was created by the composer, musician of the National Guard Orchestra Inga Meijere, but the author of the text is Matīss Gricmanis. The song was recorded by the National Guard Orchestra under the direction of the Chief Conductor of the National Armed Forces and the Chief of the National Guard Orchestra, Captain Andis Karelis. The soloists are Luīze Krasta and Jānis Igaunis, musicians of the National Guard Orchestra. The video version of the song was shot in cooperation with the National Library of Latvia.

The author of the text M. Gricmanis reveals: “The song“ In Search of Heroes ”is an echo of the events that took place in Latvia a hundred years ago. The idea of our country was born when the surrounding world was devastated by the madness of the First World War, but Latvian heroes – riflemen – returned to Latvia in the ranks of the Red Army. For three years – in 1917, 1918 and 1919 – the fate of Latvia was formed. It has experienced turning points that are still difficult to trace with the watchful eye of historians. Three stars of independence shone through the fog of uncertainty. The life of a hero embodies the ability to overcome destiny – so I am always looking for evidence that heroism is not only in fairy tales or myths, but also in history. ”

Composer and songwriter Inga Meijere invites: “Do not forget the heroes of our nation, who fought for our own country and for Latvia to be the country of Justice that our ancestors won a hundred years ago. The song is a very special way to go back in history, survive and admire, remember and commemorate, be proud and celebrate the victory over the difficulties that had to be overcome and the war that had to be won in order for our Latvia to be born. ”

The song “In Search of Heroes” was created for the television production “Independence Hours”, the premiere of which is scheduled for August 11 on Latvian Television.

This production is a story about the decisions, beliefs and personalities that created the idea of Latvia as an independent and democratic country in one of the most difficult stages of its history – the Latvian War of Independence.

On August 11, 1920, a historic treaty was signed between Latvia and Soviet Russia, concluding the War of Independence for more than a year and a half. The treaty stipulated that “Russia unconditionally recognizes the independence, sovereignty and sovereignty of the State of Latvia and voluntarily and forever renounces all sovereign rights that belonged to Russia in relation to the people and land of Latvia …” This paved the way for Latvia’s international recognition. The agreement also defined the Latvian-Russian border, as well as resolved other issues related to the end of the war.
