2021 was a good year for book sales
The Publishers’ Association annual report shows an increase of as much as 8.5 percent in book sales for the year as a whole. This gives total publishing revenues of just over NOK 2 billion, writes Book365. The number is without the power services and digital textbooks that will come later this year.
The subject reform in the school has led to a large increase in textbook sales. Sales to primary and lower secondary schools increased by as much as 48 percentage points, while sales to upper secondary schools increased by 28 per cent.
Norwegian non-fiction for children increased their sales by NOK 8 million up to NOK 38 million, an increase of as much as 28 per cent, while Norwegian non-fiction for adults has increased by 3.3 with characters such as Abid Rajas and Trond-Viggo Torgersen’s books, to NOK 308 million .
Sales of Norwegian fiction for children fell by 4.4 per cent, while Norwegian fiction for adults was about the same as last year after a good boost in Christmas sales.
