The 28-year-old man is said to have thought that his mother would harm him. Police believe he stabbed his mother before taking his own life.
On Saturday, a 54-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man were found dead in an apartment on Askøy outside Bergen.
Police believe they are facing a murder and a suicide. Police confirm that their investigations show that the son stabbed the mother, before he took his own life.
– It has been our hypothesis all along. That hypothesis has been strengthened after the autopsy, police lawyer Elisabeth Bru told VG.
The police attorney says that the man’s health information is a natural part of the investigation.
– We are trying to find out what happened and what is behind the incident, says Bru.
The county governor will go through the 28-year-old’s medical record to look at the type of health care the man has received, acting county doctor Sjur Lehmann tells VG.
– We do this on our own initiative. The starting point is that we will investigate whether the health care he has received has been justifiable. The circumstances in this case are so serious that we think it was important to get done, says Lehmann to VG.
