The LPG station that exploded on Saturday and caused 46 victims in Crevedia, including 26 firefighters, belongs to the son of the mayor of Caracal, Ion Doldurea. The company is called Flagas SRL and, according to all information, manages a decommissioned LPG station, used as a gas warehouse. According to the data obtained by Digi24, there were 6 LPG tanks at Crevedia, each with a capacity of 10,000 liters each. Official sources claim that the reason for the tragedy would be the fact that two citizens would have tried, during Saturday, to move gas from one tank to another.

He also told me that at the moment he is not in the country, he is abroad and will arrive tonight or tomorrow, he is looking for a plane to arrive in Romania as soon as possible, to be with his son. His son is in Dâmbovița and is going to give statements regarding the situation of the LPG station.”

According to Digi24 sources, the cause of the explosions would be the fact that, during Saturday, two citizens tried to move gas from one tank to another.

The mayor of Crevedia says that the LPG station did not have a permit

The mayor of Crevedia told Digi24 that the place where the explosion followed by the fire took place was rather an LPG warehouse, after the activity of selling fuels to citizens was suspended by the ISU.

“They took out a cistern, there are two more in the premises that are about to collapse. The situation is very serious. We have a few victims, they took them on a stretcher, the SMURD helicopter is also here. We are waiting for the firefighters to intervene. The flames are going to the houses. We hope to liquidate as soon as possible,” he said.

The mayor explained that there was more of an LPG warehouse there: “When I came to the mayor’s office, this location had its activity suspended by the ISU, it was no longer allowed to sell fuel to citizens. But the tanker was coming, they were loading, they know what they were doing. Those from ISU were in control 2-3 times, but I don’t have more information. They were no longer allowed to sell in bottles to the citizens, but the tankers were loading there”.

He provided some information he had about the victims. “One of the victims will leave with the SMURD helicopter, I understand that they cannot find two workers who were there. It is not yet known if they were at work today. Those who were taken out of there, you can’t talk to them, they are on a stretcher”, said the mayor.
