The film hit the theaters as a Diwali release

Amaran is one of the most famous films of recent years in Tamil cinema. The film stars Sivakarthikeyan as Major Mukund Varadaraja and is directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy. Releasing on October 31 as a Diwali release, the film is produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raj Kamal Films and Sony Pictures Films India. Now some new reports have surfaced regarding the OTT release of the film which has already received a huge response at the box office.
The film received a great response from the audience on the day of its release and entered the 200 crore club in the first 10 days. This is the figure from the global box office. The new report is that the OTT release of the film is being extended in the second weekend also considering the increase in the theatres. South Indian films usually get an OTT window of less than a month. Even the Vijay and Rajinikanth films that were huge hits in the theaters made their way to OTT during this period.
Amaran should have arrived the same way. Netflix owned the film’s OTT rights. It is learned that due to the popularity and collection of the film in the second week as well, the makers have decided to extend the OTT window in talks with the OTT platform. But there is no certainty as to how long the OTT release will be. Reports say there may be a one to two week delay. If these reports are true, this will be a first in Tamil cinema.
