Doctors in Mumbai, India managed to save the life of a 13-year-old girl after pulling out a huge ball of hair weighing 1.2 kg.
After being unable to eat or drink for several days.
According to the website “timesnownews”, doctors at the Vasai Hospital in India said the girl was suffering from severe abdominal pain, bouts of vomiting, indigestion and heartburn.
So, her parents had to go to the doctor, but her health didn’t improve, because she was vomiting minutes after eating anything.
Then, her treatment began with an ultrasound, which revealed a buildup of human hair in her digestive tract.
After examining her stomach and studying the ultrasound report, Dr. Joseph D’Souza, who performed the surgery, spoke to her parents and learned that she had a history of hair swallowing and nail chewing for the past few years. years.
She said: “The girl has a common syndrome, Rapunzel syndrome, and is currently recovering in hospital.”
He added, “She often complained of abdominal pain, as the accumulation of human hair stiffened her muscles which caused her to lose her appetite.”
She also continued, “Because she couldn’t eat or drink, she lost a lot of weight and became very thin.”
