In this period of tremendous price increases on gasoline it is absolutely understandable that motorists study them all in order not to be strangled by fuels.
By now the price of diesel and petrol fluctuates between 2.2 and 2.5 euros. Yet according to experts it could even touch and exceed 3 euros. Obviously the fault lies with the global inflationary spiral but also and especially the war in Ukraine.
So you waste the tricks to save. But in reality these are tricks taken from a distant past made of misery and hardship to which, however, it seems that we are returning very quickly. It is no mystery that diesel can be replaced by fuels such as agricultural naphtha or rapeseed oil. The paradox is that by now diesel costs even more than petrol and therefore motorists are starting to remember the ancient times in which literally everything was put into diesel engines.
The state does not want to lose excise duties
But can agricultural naphtha and rapeseed oil really be used in diesel engines? It is important to do some clarity. First of all, using this stuff in your engine is a crime. In fact, it is the consolidated act on excise duties that establishes a penalty of up to 3 years of imprisonment and a fine of over € 7,000. if you get caught with this kind of alternative fuel. The state does not care about our engines, but it matters a lot to lose the precious excise duties and therefore if you are surprised with alternative fuels on which you do not pay excise duties, you are in trouble.
What is the risk
But in addition to the criminal issues, agricultural naphtha and rapeseed oil do not leave the engine completely indifferent. Agricultural oil could also be used even if current engines are actually much more sensitive than those of old cars and there would probably be damage in the long run. But absolutely to avoid is rapeseed oil.

Rapeseed oil is much cheaper now than diesel but the deposits it leaves in the injectors and in all parts involved in its passage could seriously damage the engine. So these tricks to save actually have very little cunning and concrete. The situation is dramatic but better to fall back on public transport or shared cars if you can.
