In normal times, the streets and avenues of New York are always very busy with traffic. Change of scenery this summer with a new edition of Summer Streets, an event organized by New York City Hall.
What is it about ? On Saturdays August 3, 10 and 17, 2019, several major New York roads will be reserved for pedestrians only, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. This large pedestrian area will run from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park (see map below). Enough to offer you a long crossing of New York without a single car on the horizon!

Entertainment for the whole family

But that’s not all ! Along the route, the New York City Hall is planning several activities, including some sports activities:

  • You can slide down a zipline that is just over 50 meters long at the corner of Duane Street and Center Street.
  • A climbing wall will be installed at the corner of Spring Street and Lafayette Street.
  • You can then attend dance performances at Astor Place.
  • At the corner of 25th Street and Park Avenue, you can sit around the picnic tables and taste a few samples.
  • Finally, children are expected at the corner of 51st Street and Park Avenue with a play area.

The idea is therefore to go up or down Manhattan and participate in the various workshops. If you are a fan of photos, stopping the traffic will especially give you the opportunity for unique photos!
