Some Microsoft applications have a redesign in Windows 11. Yesterday we talked about the Windows application store and its integration with Win32 applications.
Now at this point we’ve already heard a lot about what Windows 11 and its new Microsoft Store will bring with it. Unsurprisingly, several applications developed by Microsoft will also receive a new coat of sheet metal and paint.
Windows 11 is all about designing and finally adopting Fluent Design as the cleanest and most consistent interface ever created. It also removes the sharp corners and swaps them for the rounded ones, to be friendlier.
Some Microsoft applications have a redesign in Windows 11
Before the release of Windows 11 in October, Microsoft apparently plans to carry out the redesign to all of its core applications. This includes Photos, Paint, and even the notepad. On June 24, Microsoft officially unveiled a new design for these apps in Windows 11.

It seems that two of the most popular Windows applications, the calculator and PowerToys, will also receive this new design.

In 2019, Microsoft released the code for Microsoft Calculator and released it on GitHub under the permissive license from MIT.
Windows Calculator is now publicly maintained with community feedback. In a new update of the Roadmap Posted on GitHub, Microsoft has confirmed that the existing design of the Calculator app will be updated to follow the latest guidelines for Fluent Design and WinUI. Examples of this are rounded corners and transparency effects.

Also, in a thread of GitHub, Microsoft workers have confirmed that PowerToys will also be updated with the WinUI 2.6 controls to match the new look of Windows 11.
