“As soon as the situation on the market calms down, we will of course renew our offer,” said Jan Sýkora, Marketing Director of MND.

In recent days, the largest energy suppliers such as ČEZ, PRE, E.ON or innogy have seen a huge interest from customers of some smaller suppliers, some companies are talking about thousands of new demands a day. Wholesale electricity and gas prices have recently risen to record highs, which has caused problems for some suppliers in addition to the impact on consumers.

The Energy Regulatory Office announced on Friday that it is investigating energy suppliers Bohemia Energy, Europe Easy Energy and Lumius for possible unfair market practices. For the first two, customers complain about the premature termination of price fixation and conversion to variable prices determined by the stock exchange. According to the office, Lumius then unexpectedly terminates gas supply contracts, especially for large customers.

“Pražská energetika does not reject customers, the offer for new clients of course reflects the commercial prices on the market, but it is still far more advantageous than products to which customers are forced by some alternative suppliers,” said PRE spokesman Petr Holubec. Electricity for new clients was made more expensive by the semi-state ČEZ, while the company’s existing customers have a price list for a three-year fixation of CZK 2,149 per megawatt-hour without VAT, customers switching from other suppliers will pay CZK 3,229 per megawatt-hour.

“Nothing has changed for our existing customers. Their contracts, conditions, including fixation, remain the same. The price does not change. At the same time, however, we are responding to increased demand from potential customers, who are now leaving their suppliers and looking for a stable alternative. Therefore, we have prepared new tariffs for them, which reflect the fact that we must provide them with the necessary electricity capacity in the current volatile market, ”said CEZ spokesman Roman Gazdík.

Innogy spokesman Pavel Grochál said that the interest in transferring energy to the company is huge, according to him, the company concluded 1,500 new energy supply contracts on Thursday alone. “We have been saying for several weeks that gas and electricity prices are unsustainable. So far, however, we have not increased them in our Standard price list. For example, we have been holding gas prices for more than a year, and we have reduced the price by five percent for the last time. However, we will have to increase in the near future. However, with regard to the dramatic situation, we cannot define a specific date for adjustment, “he added.

“Although our customer line is currently working at full capacity, it is very overloaded and we are not enough to handle client requests – and this applies to both existing and potential ones. We are currently taking contacts with new clients so that we can get back to them. We contact our clients gradually, because we are really overwhelmed by customer requirements, it now takes longer than usual, we have fun for at least a few working days, “added Zdeněk Pošvář from E.ON.
