Some Brooklyn churches reopen after meeting COVID-19 metrics – Telemundo New York (47)

NEW YORK – The Diocese of Brooklyn announced Saturday that five churches in Brooklyn are no longer located in the Red Zone, which is part of the area determined by Governor Cuomo as high-risk due to the increase in COVID-19 cases, and will reopen the weekend for mass.

The parishes that will reopen for service after being closed for four weeks are:

• St. Athanasius Church in the Bensonhurst neighborhood.

• The Holy Spirit Church in the Borough Park neighborhood.

• The church of San Francisco de Chantal in the Plains neighborhood.

• The Church of St. Thomas Aquinas in the Flatlands neighborhood.

• The Church of St. Catherine of Alexandria in the Borough Park neighborhood.

The churches mentioned are now located in the Yellow Zone, where houses of worship can be open at 50% of their maximum capacity.
