– Some bad minutes – VG

TRONDHEIM (VG) (Rosenborg-Alanyaspor 1–0) Last year, Anders Konradsen (30) scored five goals in seven qualifying matches in Europe. This time he also provided some very exciting final minutes.

– It was some bad minutes, and I became semi-religious there towards the end. I watched the second hand all the time, says Konradsen on the VG + broadcast after the match.

It took one hour before Rosenborg played their first scoring chance. But after Tore Reginiussen first tested the gloves of Alanyaspor goalkeeper Marafona with a very hard heading, it took only one minute, and one more chance before the home team took the lead after Konradsen took advantage of a large defensive loss.

The 30-year-old just managed to celebrate in front of empty stands, before he was sent off six minutes later for his second yellow card.

– It was the same man both times. It is cynical of him, slightly rusty of me and bad of judges, Konradsen sums up.

With ten against eleven players, the rest of the match was a match with its back to the wall. The away team Alanyaspor eventually threw all the men in attack, but the task seemed to lift Åge Hareide’s ten heroic men, who persevered after heroic defensive efforts.

Now PSV Eindhoven is waiting in the last qualifying round. You can also watch that match live on VG +.

– They are strong, but it is inspiring, says Hareide about the upcoming opponent.

32 million

Thus, the hope of another European group game for Rosenborg lives, in which case the fourth in a row. Opponent at Lerkendal will be the old acquaintance PSV Eindhoven, who beat Slovenian NS Mura 5-1.

The winner of that match secures a ticket to the group game, and a random sum of just over 32 million kroner. Rosenborg has already recorded more than 10 million from UEFA’s prize pool.

Not sure if that was the reason, but the away team opened the match carefully, and it was Rosenborg in a 4-2-3-1 formation that opened the freshest, but without getting to chances. Alanyaspor played to two good chances, but had to go in the locker room without a counting result.

– They have good individual players, but we defended well as a team, says Hareide.

Two chances in two minutes

The decisive goal came after a set piece and a personal error.

Alanyaspor’s Fatih Aksoy cloned it within his own five meters, and then the European specialist Anders Konradsen was in the right place at the right time – again. Trøndelag did not need more chances.

Konradsen’s sixth goal in its last eight qualifying matches for the Champions League or Europa League, may prove to be worth its weight in gold for the Rosenborg economy.

In overtime, the away team’s Babacar lost his head, and was correctly sent in the shower after pushing substitute Erlend Dahl Reitan over the end.

The match between Rosenborg and PSV Eindhoven will be played on Thursday 2 October. When the teams met in last season’s group game, the Dutch won 4-1 at Lerkendal.
