However, there is a possibility that it will go away on its own after four to six weeks. Hygiene is very important for this. This is more difficult for small children, as they sometimes put unwashed hands in their mouths.
General practitioner Tamara de Weijer emphasizes that it is very unfortunate that the medicine is no longer available. “It’s very pathetic: the itch from the eggs is maddening, especially at night,” she tells RTL News. There is also no other remedy for worms. “That makes it even more annoying that it is not in stock.”

But there is hope: the Medicines Evaluation Board has announced that the medication will still be available this year. “It is expected that there will be sufficient stock again in the fourth quarter of 2021,” the spokesperson said RTL News.
