“Do they already have everything they need to eat or would they bring new food on board at those stops?” asks Marie Verhulst. “You should ask the cook that,” Gert responds immediately. Ellen also picks up on it: “It could be possible, but they can save something for a week like that.”
Marie mentions the family’s favorite breakfast: eggs. “All eggs are on board from the start, you can rest assured,” Gert says to his daughter. “And how many eggs are there?” Gert starts his calculation: “There were 6,000 people on board, if they all eat 1 egg on average per day… There are people who don’t eat eggs and we eat 10,” he continues. “So almost 50,000 eggs , but for sauces such as béarnaise, count on 100,000 eggs.” Marie reacts with surprise: “I actually would have liked to see that.”
