Nature will be the unifying aspect that permeates the concert program. Solveig says: “Nature influenced me in the process of writing all these works, the river, the sea, the trees and the games of space and time with the eternal. The nature in which I fit in, not submit, survive, bubble and calm down, feeling how the allotted time of life passes.”
“Shadows of leaves” for flute quartet and shakuhachi flute will be played from previously written works. The sound of shakuhachi was introduced to S. Selga by ethnomusicologist Valdis Muktupāvels, who also kindly agreed to participate in the author’s concert. The cooperation with the clarinet quartet “Quattro Differente” has also been successful, and they will play “Jūrā. Between sighs and the sun”. In addition to the composition for solo percussion instruments: “Es mītu”, in which Solveiga has used fragments from her poems, a new piece for percussion instruments and piano “Feeling Speed”, which is expected to be premiered, has also been composed. Ernests Mediņš will play percussion instruments in the original concert. The clarinet quartet will also have its premiere. Solveiga Selga herself will play pieces for the piano.
