Derby –
Manchester United reportedly approached the Real Madrid defender, Raphael Varane. Asked about it, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer dodge.
United have long been rumored to be monitoring Varane’s situation at Real Madrid. The French international defender’s contract with The whites will expire in June 2022.
According to reports circulating, Manchester United will try to reduce Varane’s transfer fee considering the player can be obtained for free next season. If they can reach a personal agreement with Varane, United will then have to convince Madrid to let him go.
The question of Varane’s transfer was also asked by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after Manchester United underwent a pre-season test match against Derby County, Sunday (18/7/2021) night WIB.
Solskjaer was initially asked about Jadon Sancho’s transfer from Borussia Dortmund. The England international’s transfer deal has already been announced and it remains only to finalize the paperwork before formalizing his move.
Reporters then quickly asked Solskjaer about Raphael Varane. However, the Norwegian manager was not trapped and immediately refused to discuss it.
Reporter: “Why do you want to recruit Sancho?”
Solskjaer: “I will talk about players when we sign them, not when they are at other clubs.”
Reporter: “How close are you to Varane’s transfer?”
Solskjaer: (Laughter) “Same answer!”
