Good news coming Manchester United injury-related Harry Maguire. This Red Devils captain has the opportunity to appear in the final match Europa League.
Maguire suffered an ankle injury when MU beat Aston Villa at Villa Park in the Premier League match on Sunday (9/5/2021) evening WIB. He had to be pulled off in the 78th minute to be replaced by Eric Bailly.
The 28-year-old defender was worried that he would have to miss a long time due to this injury. Amid these worries, good news regarding Maguire’s condition approached the Red Devils.
The results of the medical examination for Maguire’s injury did show that the British player was suffering from a ligament injury. However, he did not experience any fractures. This was revealed by the MU manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Seeing these conditions, Solskjaer hopes Maguire can return to competing when MU faces Villarreal in the Europa League final. This duel will be held at Miejski Stadium, Gdansk on May 26.
“He clearly did scan and the good news is there are no fractures, “Solskjaer told Stewart Gardner during an interview by MUTV.
“(There was) ligament damage but hopefully we will see him again this season. Hopefully, he will be ready for the final,” he explained.
However, Maguire is likely to miss the rest of MU’s match in the Premier League this season. Maguire no longer competing when The Red Devils lost 1-2 at Old Trafford to his former team, Leicester City, Tuesday (12/5/2021) early morning Western Indonesian Time.
This defeat at the same time wiped out MU’s hopes of winning the English League title. The title of champion fell into the arms of Man City, who with 80 points could not possibly be overtaken by MU, who scored 70 points even though the Premier League still has three weeks left.
In the remaining three matches, Maguire also seems to have to pull over. The last three games, Manchester Red this season, face Liverpool (home), Fulham (home), and Wolverhampton Wanderers (away).
