From January 28 to May 7, a solo exhibition of paintings by the artist Neonilla Medvedevas “Blue Shadows” is open in the “Romas dārzs” gallery, which shows landscapes, etudes painted from nature en plein air, while traveling through Latvian cities and other well-known places. Nature painting is first and foremost a visualization of light on a plane. Bright, faded sunlight is accentuated by bright, colorful shadows.
The blue color is considered a symbol of spirituality, it tunes people to reflection and peace. Blue is the sky and the reflection of the sky in the water, distance and shadows on the snow. The darker the shadow, the brighter the light. It’s the same for humans – living in the dark, we appreciate the good and the positive more. To see the light, you have to live in the dark. The light changes every day. The mood of nature and man is changing. Man and nature, color and mood are connected, but painting is a reflection of this changing moment.
The exhibition features paintings from Riga, Liepāja, Pāvilosta, Cesvaine, Krāslava, Rauna and other Latvian cities, as well as works created in Venice.
