Solingen proposes Daniel Wieneke as the new chamberlain

The city administration of Solingen will propose Daniel Wieneke to the city council for election as the new treasurer. The candidate, who, according to the Blade City, is the only one of six competitors who has the required qualifications, is a well-known face in Solingen.

Wieneke, who is now 55, was already active in the city of blades from 1998 to 2012 – initially on the mayor’s staff and most recently as head of financial management. In 2011, the graduate economist prepared the participatory budgeting campaign “Solingen Spar!” together with the still incumbent city treasurer Ralf Weeke. Wieneke is currently district treasurer and department head for finance, district development and education in the Ennepe-Ruhr district.

Chamberlain Weeke becomes manager

Weeke announced in September that he wanted to switch to technical operations in Solingen as manager – DNK reported. The change of office is to be completed in spring 2022. He made the reasons for the change clear back in September: “These were extremely exhausting years in which, looking back, one crisis followed another.” You can find out more about Weeke’s motives and plans for the future in the new DNK-Zeitung 4 /2021, which will be released this Friday.

The area of ​​responsibility of the Solingen City Treasurer currently includes the areas of finance, investments and building management. The election will take place at the city council meeting on December 16th. The future treasurer is elected for a term of eight years.
