Solidarity with Ukraine is organized in Poitou-Charentes

Collections in favor of the Ukrainian people are increasing in the region. A short, non-exhaustive overview of local solidarity initiatives.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, solidarity initiatives have multiplied. On a national level, Civil Defense and the Association of Mayors of France coordinate the shipment of parcels.

Humanitarian associations are also appealing for donations. This is the case of Catholic Relieffrom Doctors Without Bordersfrom People Relief of Amnesty International or the French Red Crossto name but a few.

In the Poitou-Charentes region, several collections have been set up, here is a non-exhaustive list of the initiatives that have made themselves known.

The city of Aytre, near La Rochelle denounces the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian army and supports solidarity initiatives by listing accommodation offers or collections. For donations, you can drop them off at the Communal Center for Social Action (CCAS) at 4 rue de la Résistance on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. . The city of La Rochelle organizes a collection of equipment at the exhibition center, 1, rue Henri Barbusse, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday 3, Friday 4, Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 March 2022 Firstly. Donations in cash or by check can also be made, they will be donated to Médecins Sans Frontières, Médecins du Monde and the High Commissioner for Refugees.

In the Deux-Sèvres, the town hall of Niort organize a collection of basic necessities. Donations can be dropped off at City Hall between 8:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Also in Niort, a collection is set up at the Saint-Exupéry college. A convoy carrying all the donations should leave Niort for Ukraine at the end of the week.

The town hall of Angoulême has received many calls from residents wishing to welcome refugees. So she set up a site on which you can write down your accommodation offer. About twenty proposals are already referenced.

The city of Poitiers organize a collection of basic necessities, such as sleeping bags, cots, toiletries and hygiene products or medical equipment. Donations will be dropped off at Exhibition (entrance hall of the Arena) of Grand Poitiers, 11 rue Salvador Allende, from Thursday March 3 to Monday March 7 inclusive from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. without interruption and Tuesday March 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The city is also setting up an operation for Ukrainians residing in Poitiers. In connection with Prefecture, the university and the association Ukraine Libre, (a newly created self-help association), a telephone line dedicated to solidarity with Ukraine is open to: 05 49 52 35 11 (reachable from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.). The Poitiers regional university hospital center also loaded an entire truckload of medical equipment and medicines. 20 pallets of equipment left the Châtellerault site of the CHU on Friday morning bound for Ukraine.
