At the beginning of the afternoon, this Saturday, more than a hundred people had already come to buy clothes, toys, crockery, books… against a solidarity contribution.
It is indeed “solidarity in motion” that mobilizes the thirty volunteers who surround Dominique Raoul, secretary general of the Chartrain committee, in a friendly atmosphere.
Distributions twice a week
On Wednesdays and Fridays, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., the beneficiaries – destitute people, including many single people – come to pick up clothes, foodstuffs or other objects from donations that individuals make to the Chartrain committee, throughout the year.
The volunteers are delighted with a recent initiative taken by the pupils of a Eurelian school who have produced “happiness boxes” comprising small items of all kinds (leisure, food, utility) accompanied by a drawing, a map , with a warm word, “bringing a smile to the most deprived”.
Dominique Raoul indicates that “the profits from the sale will be used to buy food products for the beneficiaries who are more and more likely to have difficulty meeting their needs”.
