In a joint action between the Knowledge Park, through the Inca Knowledge Space, and the Sustainable Neighbors NGO, different institutions will be able to create their own video libraries thanks to the donation of televisions, players and films and documentaries in DVD format.

With the popularization of streaming and viewing through different digital platforms, the old habit of watching DVD movies is gradually being left behind, but it should not be considered an obsolete format for this reason.

Contemplating the amount of disused televisions, reproducing devices and audiovisual materials in DVD format, this project arose that provides an opportunity for recreation by creating video libraries for different institutions that serve people in vulnerable situations, such as day homes, neighborhood organizations, popular libraries and prison units.

The project “Pelis Andantes” arose when the Inca Space of Knowledge received the donation of more than nine thousand films in DVD format, which led them to join forces with the NGO Sustainable Neighbors, who are in charge of repairing and fine-tuning the devices. in question. This action is also part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) that emphasize health, well-being and quality education, striving for the reduction of inequalities, in addition to aiming to achieve sustainable cities and communities.

To continue with this purpose, the Inca Space of Knowledge invites the community to donate disused televisions and DVD players (also films and documentaries), which will be donated -together with a pack of films- to the different institutions once they have been released. ready by Sustainable Neighbors.

Towards the construction of cinematheques in the city

So far, more than two thousand films have been donated to institutions such as the Tupá Rendá Children’s Home, the Familias Unidas neighborhood, Manantiales, the Posadas Popular Library, the Juvenile Correctional Facility and the Women’s Penal Unit. The Missions Public Library was also added to the proposal, which has been operating for more than two years with different venues that bring their books with varied themes, magazines and board games to hospitals and prisons. Days ago, the Knowledge Park participated in the delivery of hundreds of films to thirty-eight inmates of Penal Unit V, twelve of whom are visited by their sons, daughters, grandchildren and granddaughters.

The inmates went to the Misiones Public Library Headquarters located at the entrance of the Unit, where they can enjoy a table with attractive titles and chairs that invite reading. After the formal greetings, the Ivcaa Knowledge Space team commented to the inmates about the different titles they can already count on.
