After completing their first procedure before the Electoral Service, with which they hope to soon form themselves as a party, last Wednesday the political party Solidarity for Chile (SOL Chile) reported that it aspires to legalize itself. It is a political organization that was born with the objective of “promoting a profound transformation in the country towards a fully democratic, supportive, prosperous, safe and free social life, for present and future generations.”
They are currently led by the scientist and ecofeminist from Magallanes, Elisa Giustinianovich, and at the local level, the former conventionalist and socio-environmental leader, César Uribe, will be in charge of starting the process of collecting forms.
“Since the outbreak, the different communities and territories began to organize themselves in assemblies, in town councils, which also gave rise to the constituent process in general, which regardless of the results, which are not at all positive, we did rescue that capacity for organization, of discussion and the territorial view of the different problems that afflict Chilean society in general,” said César Uribe.
Many of those who make up this political project, he added, “we met at those times, we met at the national level, when we participated in the first constituent process, and also at the regional level, in the deployment that took place during those years for the different electoral processes. ”.
According to the former conventional, “this project has an origin reflected in that moment, in these last four years, although obviously there is a much broader four-year work of those of us who participated in some cases. This space has also been integrated by people who come from the social movement, socio-environmental movement in my case; of the feminist movement, of the world of work, of culture, in short, there is a view very related to that, to that type of organizations.”
Regarding its formation in Ñuble, Uribe mentioned that “what we are looking for is to rearticulate these spaces, strengthen each other, create a very grassroots organization, very anchored to the territory. We know that this is a region that has historically been close to a more conservative vote, a more right-wing vote, but we also feel that the logic today, and also in recent years, has been a lot in the confrontation of the political leaders, and they have forgotten about the people’s problems, so we also want to address, focus mainly on the most immediate, on the closest, on the problems and challenges that the people have, and Ñuble in particular, which is our place, our territory. We want to convene those people, we also want to invite them to create“We must now be strong in the different communes, and hopefully we can organize ourselves.”
Electoral objectives
The Solidaridad party is betting on establishing itself in a first stage in the regions of Maule, Ñuble and Biobío. For this rThey require a minimum of 500 adhesions in the region.
“That also generates a particular interest for us, that this political project has an origin here. In that sense, we particularly invite the people of Ñuble to be integrated into the creation and formation process. Our priority has to do with legalization, but the electoral issue of 2024, which is already upon us, is something that we have very much in mind, because within the territories where we are today, in Ñuble we have people. We are interested in presenting some candidacies for council positions, possibly for mayor, and in that sense, we also want to do parallel work to strengthen the electoral issue, which is one of the main objectives of the party, to dispute the political space in its different scales. Eventually we will also have candidates for the regional council, which we believe is a very important space for the destinies of the territory,” he stated.
Uribe invited Ñublensinos to review Solidaridad’s content on its website, psolchile.cl, and on its social networks, where they can find it as psolchile.
“We are going to be uploading material, information. We are going to try to do a territorial deployment through Ñuble to generate some conversations that will also allow us to show ourselves directly to those who may be interested. We are waiting for Servel to give us validation of the documents that we deliver to be able to begin the process of collecting signatures, which has a period of seven months, but we are waiting within three months from when they give us the go-ahead. I hope to have the signatures gathered so that the electoral process does not catch us so much,” he said.
