French of Senegalese origin, Abu Camara, of Cléon, has decided to implement various actions to help the populations of the Senegal. She’s already sent tons of clothes and isn’t going to stop there.
Abou Camara, like so many others before, illustrates this particularity of Cleon: solidarity. The desire to help others. “It is true that it is a reflex to Cléon”, she assures. “As soon as neighborhoods are affected by an event, such as the recent disappearance of children [Journal d’Elbeuf du 3 décembre, N.D.L.R.], everyone is mobilizing to help. I believe that we are high in sharing. “
Is it because she is Cléonnaise or because her heart is a little bigger than the average that Abu has decided to get involved in this mutual aid? And more particularly for his country of origin, Senegal.
First with social networks
“At the start, I wanted to start an association. But I don’t know anything about it. Especially in terms of procedures. And that’s what is interesting with Abou. While she could not find an institutional solution, the one who is accountable in life decided to go for it and fend for herself to find solutions. And it starts with social networks. “I used Facebook or Snapchat a lot” to reach as many people as possible for his project. The latter is simple: send clothes in very good condition to Senegalese who have no family in France.
“Poverty in Senegal is not the same as in France. Here, we always have a net. CAF, RSA, Restos du cœur, for example. In Senegal, when you have nothing, you have nothing. When I asked my family still there what they needed, they told me everything. People who are dying of hunger in 2021 is unacceptable, ”the young woman rebels.
Immediately her calls are heard and she receives a lot of clothes at home. “I had to organize myself. I had them everywhere. In my room, in my car, ”she laughs. She washes them, wraps them up. “You have to respect people. “
The clothes left during this first weekend of January. But she does not intend to stop there. It also launched a leetchi kitty to be able to buy and assemble “emergency kits” in which we can find hygiene, care, food products …
Looking for a local
She is also looking for a room to be able to assemble them. “I still live with my parents. And I don’t want to disturb them. I’m sure we can find a place. There are plenty of empty apartments in Cléon, for example. She also inquired of certain town halls in the agglomeration which, for the moment, have not responded favorably. But it is not this kind of annoyance that will prevent Abu from continuing his actions.
